High-Expansion Foam Silicone Rubber: Room-Temperature Molding, a New Choice for Shock Absorption and Cushioning

Hits: 572 img

Recently, a liquid foam silicone rubber named IOTA LSR 3663 A/B has emerged as a "rising star" in the field of shock-absorbing and cushioning materials, thanks to its unique room-temperature foaming properties.

This product features a two-component design. When mixed in a 1:1 ratio, it spontaneously foams at room temperature, forming a soft elastomer with a density as low as 200–500 kg/m³. It provides an efficient and environmentally friendly solution for industries such as electronics, automotive, and packaging.

Core Advantages: High-Temperature Resistance and Soft Elasticity Combined
The standout feature of the IOTA LSR 3663 series is its high-temperature resistance. It can withstand temperatures up to 300°C without deformation, far surpassing traditional foam materials.

At the same time, its expansion ratio ranges from 2 to 6 times, resulting in a soft and elastic finished product that effectively absorbs impact forces while also serving as a filler to adapt to complex shapes. For example, in applications such as printer shaft sponge tubes and silicone foam insulation tubes, this material can significantly reduce equipment vibration and extend service life.

Process Simplification: Room-Temperature Operation, Saving Time and Effort
Traditional foam materials often require high temperatures or special equipment for molding, whereas the IOTA LSR 3663 series cures in just 20–30 minutes at 25°C, with an operating time of 5–10 minutes. This greatly reduces production energy consumption and costs. Additionally, its viscosity can be adjusted according to customer needs, making it highly flexible and suitable for various processes such as injection molding and casting.

Wide Range of Applications, Driving Industry Upgrades
From silicone foam sealing strips to shock-absorbing silicone sheets, and from photocopier transfer roller shafts to bag fillers, the IOTA LSR 3663 series has penetrated multiple fields.

For instance, in new energy vehicle battery packs, this material can serve as a cushioning pad, providing both thermal insulation and shock absorption. In packaging liners for 3C electronic products, its softness helps prevent damage from transportation collisions.

As industries increasingly demand lightweight and environmentally friendly materials, the IOTA LSR 3663 series is poised to become a "standard" in the field of shock absorption, driving related industries toward greater efficiency and sustainability.
