10-Shore "Soft Rubber" Can Withstand 800% Stretch! The "Yoga Master" of Seals Is Here

"Soft enough to fold into a paper airplane, yet stretchable into a noodle without breaking." Recently, a 10-Shore liquid silicone has become a sensation in seal factories—it can be kneaded like dough yet springs back effortlessly, earning it the playful nickname "the yoga master of seals" among workers.

The secret lies in its "low cross-linking + high chain segment" formulation. After curing, its hardness is only 10 Shore A, comparable to the softness of a baby pacifier, yet it can stretch up to 800%—more than even a rubber band. Its tear strength reaches 12 kN/m: even if a small cut is made with scissors and stretched to 2 cm by hand, it still performs flawlessly in assemblies without leakage, truly embodying "soft yet tough."

Mixed in a 1:1 ratio, it cures in just 45 seconds at 150°C and boasts excellent mold release properties—finished products slide out like jelly, eliminating the need for demolding sprays. This saves 8 sprays per shift, cutting solvent costs by ¥20,000 annually. With a density of 1.08 g/cm³, it is 8% lighter than traditional silicone of the same volume, freeing up space for weight-sensitive applications in aircraft and automotive industries.

Its applications span from "delicate" to "heavy-duty":

  • Drone gimbal damping pads: Softness absorbs high-frequency vibrations, eliminating the "jello effect" in aerial footage.

  • Micro water pump seals: The 10-Shore soft lip self-adapts to 0.2 mm eccentricity, reducing leakage rates by 90%.

  • High-end speaker suspension rings: 800% elongation locks speaker vibrations within the magnetic circuit, delivering cleaner bass.

"Previously, for ultra-soft seals, we had to use TPU foam, which had a short lifespan and was oil-sensitive. Now, with a single injection molding step, it withstands 200°C and shows no cracks after 72 hours in an ozone chamber, tripling its overall lifespan," said a sports camera accessory manufacturer. The company has consolidated three separate materials into a single silicone ring, streamlining assembly from 5 steps to just 1.

From aerial photography to audio, from water pumping to flight, this "soft rubber" is proving to the world: seals don’t need to be hard to be safe. With the right balance of "strength and flexibility," softness can also shoulder the responsibility of high-precision protection.
