Low Refractive Index, High Transparency! This LED Encapsulant Maximizes Light Source Brightness

Hits: 517 img

In the field of LED light source encapsulation, optical loss and poor transparency are core challenges affecting brightness. A low-refractive-index methyl-based LED encapsulant has emerged, leveraging its powerful combination of a 1.41 low refractive index and 92% high transmittance to become the "optical efficiency guardian" for COB and integrated LEDs, ensuring brighter light output and minimizing optical loss at the source.

Its optical performance is striking. The 1.41 low refractive index is a core advantage tailored for LED encapsulation, reducing excessive light loss due to refraction as light passes through the material. This maximizes the transmission of light emitted by the source, significantly boosting the luminous efficiency of COB and integrated LEDs. The 92% high transmittance further enhances performance, allowing the vast majority of light to pass through the encapsulant without being absorbed or blocked. As a result, encapsulated light sources achieve higher brightness and more uniform illumination, fully meeting the demanding optical requirements of diverse lighting applications.

Operational simplicity aligns with production needs. With a 1:1 weight ratio for the A and B components, no complex calculations are required, enabling production line workers to master the process quickly and minimizing mixing errors. Component A has a viscosity of 6000 mPa·s, while Component B is 3200 mPa·s. After mixing, the viscosity is moderate, providing ideal flowability to fill encapsulation gaps in COB and integrated LEDs without overflow. This perfectly suits the structural requirements of such light sources, resulting in a smooth, post-cure surface that requires no additional finishing.

The cured encapsulant also exhibits stable mechanical properties: a Shore hardness of 60A balances toughness and rigidity to resist damage from minor impacts, while a tensile strength of 6 MPa and elongation of 110% accommodate slight deformations during daily use, securely protecting light source components. Whether for indoor COB lighting or outdoor integrated LED applications, it maintains stable encapsulation over the long term, with no cracking or detachment due to external forces.

From encapsulating COB light sources in residential ceiling lights to protecting integrated LEDs in outdoor streetlights and sealing light sources in industrial mining lamps, this encapsulant offers precise adaptability. By leveraging its core advantages of low refractive index and high transparency, it maximizes the optical efficiency of various LED light sources, making it a premium choice for the lighting industry’s encapsulation needs.
