In specialized industrial sectors such as chemical processing, aerospace, semiconductors, and new energy, seals and elastic components are often exposed to extreme challenges including highly corrosive media, fuel contact, wide temperature ranges, and high vacuum conditions. Conventional silicone rubber tends to swell, harden, or fail in such environments, whereas fluorosilicone rubber—owing to its unique molecular structure—exhibits outstanding chemical stability and environmental tolerance, making it a critical material for specialty sealing and protection.
Fluorosilicone rubber is a high-performance elastomer with fluorine atoms or fluoroalkyl groups introduced into the silicone backbone or side chains. The strong electronegativity and high bond energy of fluorine atoms impart extremely low surface energy and excellent chemical resistance, enabling the material to maintain dimensional stability and mechanical properties even when exposed to fuels, lubricating oils, strong acids, strong alkalis, and a variety of organic solvents. At the same time, fluorosilicone rubber offers a broad service temperature range, capable of long-term operation from -40°C to 200°C and beyond, with better low-temperature flexibility than most fluorocarbon rubbers.
In terms of applications, fluorosilicone rubber is widely used in aircraft engine fuel system seals, O-rings for chemical pumps and valves, gaskets for semiconductor vacuum chambers, and seals for new energy battery cooling systems. Its excellent compression set resistance ensures effective sealing even under prolonged compression, preventing media leakage.
