Low-Carbon Transformation in the Silicone Materials Industry: Green Production Covering the Entire Product Lifecycle

The green and low-carbon transformation of China's chemical materials industry is currently advancing steadily. The silicone materials sector is progressively integrating low-carbon principles throughout the entire product lifecycle—from raw material production to end-use applications—achieving sustainable industry development through technological upgrades.

On the production side, an increasing number of silicone materials companies are undertaking energy-saving retrofits of production equipment. By upgrading reactor insulation systems, optimizing process temperature profiles, and recovering waste heat during production, they are significantly reducing energy consumption during manufacturing. At the same time, companies are improving their three-waste treatment systems, implementing deep purification of exhaust gases and wastewater generated during production to ensure all emission indicators fully comply with national environmental standards. Some advanced enterprises have also achieved water recycling, substantially reducing fresh water consumption.

On the product application side, silicone materials inherently possess natural low-carbon attributes. Liquid silicone rubber products have service lives extending over a decade; seals and protective components made from them can significantly extend the service life of downstream industrial equipment, reduce equipment replacement frequency, and indirectly lower the carbon footprint over the equipment's entire lifecycle. Polysilazane high-temperature coatings can improve the heat exchange efficiency of industrial heat exchange equipment, reducing energy consumption during equipment operation and helping industrial enterprises achieve energy savings and carbon reduction goals.

We initiated our green production transformation plan early on, having completed energy-saving upgrades on multiple production lines and established a comprehensive environmental management system. All emission indicators are well below nationally mandated standards. At the same time, we continue to optimize product formulations, developing silicone materials with longer service lives and superior performance to help downstream customers achieve energy savings and carbon reduction. Going forward, we will continue to practice the concept of green development, driving our low-carbon transformation and contributing to the green development of the silicone materials industry.
