During use of liquid silicone rubber, if surface stickiness, internal softness, demolding deformation, or localized non-curing occurs, troubleshooting typically needs to be conducted from four aspects: mixing ratio, mixing, temperature, and substrate condition. Incomplete curing not only affects product appearance but may also reduce mechanical properties, sealing performance, and service life.
Ratio deviation is one of the common causes. Two-component liquid silicone rubber typically has clear requirements for A/B component ratios, and excessive weighing errors directly affect curing results. It is recommended to use electronic scales for weighing and regularly check equipment precision. Uneven mixing can also cause localized curing abnormalities, particularly for higher-viscosity products, where adequate stirring time and method must be ensured to avoid unmixed compound at the container bottom and edges.
Mold temperature is equally important. The curing speed of liquid silicone rubber is closely related to temperature; excessively low mold temperature leads to prolonged curing time and even surface-cured/interior-uncured conditions. Uneven mold temperature may cause inconsistent curing degrees across different parts of the product. It is recommended to set appropriate mold temperature based on product technical documentation and maintain stable mold temperature.
Substrate contamination can also affect curing results. If oil contamination, mold release agent, moisture, or other impurities remain on the substrate surface, they may interfere with interfacial curing or bonding. For platinum-cure systems, contact with nitrogen-, sulfur-, and phosphorus-containing substances should also be avoided to prevent interference with the curing reaction. When curing abnormalities occur, troubleshooting can be conducted item by item in the order of "weighing—mixing—degassing—mold temperature—curing time—substrate cleanliness."
Our company provides liquid silicone rubber products and related curing parameter support. Customers encountering curing issues during trial molding or mass production can provide specific process conditions, and we will assist with parameter verification and solution optimization.
