At the Fakuma 2026 International Plastics Processing Exhibition held from October 12 to 16, Wacker Group presented a concentrated display of multiple new liquid silicone rubber (LSR) products, covering application directions including self-adhesive post-cure-free, EV coolant sealing, and high-voltage insulator molding.

ELASTOSIL® LR 5471: Combining Self-Adhesion and Post-Cure-Free Processing

The core value of this product lies in simplifying the manufacturing process for hard/soft composite components. ELASTOSIL® LR 5471 simultaneously offers self-adhesive and post-cure-free processing characteristics, eliminating additional steps such as primer application and post-treatment, and is suitable for white goods, baby care, and certain medical device applications.

For enterprises engaged in food-contact or medical-grade LSR product manufacturing, the elimination of the post-curing step means shortened production cycles and reduced energy costs. The product's adhesion to thermoplastic substrates gives it a process advantage in integrated molding of hard/soft composite materials.

ELASTOSIL® LR 3822: Targeting EV Battery Cooling Circuit Sealing

As sealing reliability requirements for EV traction battery cooling systems continue to rise, Wacker has launched ELASTOSIL® LR 3822 featuring self-bleeding oil properties. This product continuously releases silicone oil from its surface after crosslinking, forming a lubricating film to support automated assembly, while offering excellent coolant resistance, suitable for connector seals in EV battery cooling circuits.

For new energy vehicle component suppliers, coolant compatibility and assembly efficiency are two key indicators in seal material selection. The self-bleeding oil property reduces friction resistance during assembly, while resistance to ethylene glycol-water mixtures directly relates to seal reliability under long-term operating conditions.

POWERSIL® 1900 A/B: A New Solution for Composite Insulator Extrusion Molding

In the high-voltage engineering field, Wacker showcased POWERSIL® 1900 A/B high-consistency silicone rubber. This material allows manufacturers to produce high-precision composite insulators using extrusion molding processes, offering cost advantages over conventional molding methods. For power equipment manufacturers, this process path provides a new efficiency option for producing large insulator components.

Concurrent Development: Shin-Etsu Develops Silicone Adhesive Sheet for Disaster Prevention

Of notable interest, Shin-Etsu Chemical announced in early October the development of the industry's first water-infiltration-prevention silicone adhesive sheet, "Pitat Ranger." This product utilizes the rubber elasticity and adhesion of silicone to achieve water-infiltration prevention, requires no specialized tools for installation, is reusable, and does not corrode metals or concrete. Recommended usage is to apply it at gaps beneath doors and rolling shutters before placing sandbags, or to adhere it at gaps where water-stop boards have already been installed.

This product extends silicone applications from traditional industrial fields to building disaster prevention, suggesting incremental space worth attention for domestic enterprises in the direction of climate-adaptive functional materials.

Material Selection Reference for Downstream Enterprises

For technical personnel at LSR product manufacturing companies, the signals from this week's new products are relatively clear: post-cure-free is moving from concept to multi-category implementation, coolant resistance is becoming a threshold-level indicator for new energy vehicle seals, and formulation-integrated self-adhesion is replacing traditional primer processes. It is recommended to incorporate material validation in these directions into preliminary assessments in 2027 new product development planning.
