IOTA 9283 is a liquid polysilazane containing silicon-nitrogen (Si-N) bonds, with functional groups primarily consisting of methyl and fluorine-modified units. Designed for room-temperature-curing hydrophobic coatings, it features Si-NH-Si bonds that react via hydrolysis and oxidation at ambient conditions, readily bonding with substrate -OH groups for strong adhesion. The addition of a catalyst further accelerates the reaction between Si-H and Si-NH-Si, forming a 3D cross-linked network that enhances mechanical strength. Notably, the incorporation of fluorine groups ensures superb hydrophobicity, while the coating remains colorless and transparent, with a light transmittance >95%.
